Mission Impossible - Fallout

I love the fact that when you into a "Mission Impossible " film you can not be crazy to ask "how intense will this be?" Started back in 1996, as the series goes a long, Cruise always tries to top himself. So for "Fallout", does this remain true?
The story picks up a few years after the events of " Rogue Nation". The remnants of the syndicate are still at large, and Ethan is on their toes.  After watching five of these movies, it is interesting to watch one of these movies where they have to spend their time fixing the fact that they failed.
This is the first time in the history of the series that a director has done two movies. It was always a one and done thing because the producers always wanted to keep the series fresh. Christopher McQuarrie needed to come back and not just make it as good as "Rogue Nation", but better. There will be haters no matter if he did or did not. What I will say about that is, do not be quick to hate.
With the "Mission Impossible" films it was always about outdoing themselves from their previous outings. The big stunt this time around involves Tom Cruise flying a helicopter. Just so I do not spoil anything, all I will say is it was shot very well. When it was done,  I wanted more. So does it top the previous "big" stunts? I would say, very much so.
The criticism for this series has been the story. There has not been enough development of the characters to care about them, and no stakes whether or not you could ever loose one. This one, besides the fact that they failed their mission, had very familiar story themes.  The fact that it felt familiar, did not take from the fact that is exciting. What does that say about the overall quality of this movie?
Is it my favorite of the series...... probably not. It is still a hell of a lot of fun.
