West World Season 2 Episode 2

Image
*photo from gamespot.com*    Now that we have officially started how will all of the story lines weave together to make the one giant story. To me it seems like they are really trying to expand their story.    This episode was huge in many ways when it came to the creation of Westworld.  From season one we find out that the man in black (Ed Harris) is a major investor in the park. We get a flashback this episode that gives a reason why the park was saved. It was explained that companies spend so much money trying to figure out what it is people want. With the park people will tell you on its own. This adds to the massive bomb dropped in the first episode with the park collecting info on the park and putting it in the head of a host that was supposed to be unused. So what happens if that falls in the wrong hands because no one knows where it is.       The other thing I found very interesting and left me full of intrigue was the whole

*photo from entertainment weekly*       Back in the day I veered into reviewing Netflix films, ironically with another Adam Sandler beauty   "Ridiculous Six". I am going to bring the Netflix back with a new winner "Week of".     This movie reunites Sandler with Chris Rock. Sandler plays the father of the bride and that makes Rock the father of the groom.  Sandler plays Kenny Lustig, a guy that owns his own construction company, and is able to support his family. Lustig wants to follow what is tradition and pay for the wedding.  Of course with films like this, hijinks, occur that could stop the wedding. It doesn't help that the groom' s father Kirby Cordice (Rock) is a very successful  surgeon. So the question is does the wedding happen?        The thing that bothered me the most about this was the jokes. To start out, the jokes that weren't inherently offensive, were not funny. The offensive jokes included all black people look alike and making ser

Avengers Box Office

*photo from digitalspy.com*       The question on everyones mind was exactly how big was Avengers going to be? Well we now know how it did. According to box office mojo "Avengers: Infinity War" comes in at an estimated 250 million dollars. This is 2.2 million  better than "Star Wars: Force Awakens".  Now to stress it could end up a little more or even a little less. For the moment there is a new biggest opening weekend.  To me though, estimating it at 200 million open was seriously low. First you are riding the coat tails of "Black Panther" which came in at 202 million its first weekend. Plus people have been waiting for this since "Iron Man" in 2008. This was always going to be huge.

Hector "El Father" Conoceras la Verdad

Image
I first would like to say that this is the first movie I am reviewing that does not have a single review on Rotten Tomatoes. For some reason that makes me very happy.   This movie tells the story of Hector Delgado, and how he grew up in the ghetto of Puerto Rico and how dangerous it can be. He gets out by becoming a famous rapper and absorbing the gangster persona. Later in life, he starts to find God, and realizing that being a rapper may not be what he wants.       When it comes to religious movies, I hate when they get too preachy and try to overdue it. Which unfortunately  is also done in this film.    One thing that I really was not a fan of is, when movies of any kind, that take what should clearly be a better adult film, and take what makes it grown up, and squash it, leaving less of a movie. One thing that I found very odd about this film is shockingly the subtitles for this film. For the first time ever watching a foreign language film, I found several instances

*Photo from the la times*     To be honest, I really am having a difficult time really even knowing where to begin with this. This is a movie that I saw not knowing anything about it, which is super rare for me. I was in for a bit of a surprise.    Thinking back to what I watched, I am seriously struggling to describe what I watched. So the film takes place before and during the LA riot. Halle Berry plays Millie Dunbar, a lady that does any odd job she can to support the large amount of foster kids.    The problem that this film has is they set up this family and then the movie goes no where for most of the movie. The one clear thing that the film follows the trial of the cops that beat Rodney King.  The climax has the LA riot that still goes no where.    The one thing I actually enjoyed about the film was the performance of Daniel Craig was strong. From "Logan Lucky" to this I have enjoyed his acting.   In the end, the movie h

Avengers: Infinity War

*photo from photospy.com*       So it has finally come to this, after ten years, earths mightiest heroes now face off against Thanos (Josh Brolin). For the week that I have been back I have worried about how this review was going to go. Was I wasn't I going to do spoilers? How much do I give, and what is too much? As of now I have decided to go with the non spoiler review, so it may be a little light, but I will try.    The film picks up right after the events of "Thor: Ragnarok" with Thanos boarding the Asgardian ship and forcefully taking the tesseract. This is where it gets tough to talk about without spoiling it. To be as vague as possible it breaks up into three separate stories. Through the movie they go back and forth between Earth, Titan, and the kind of flying through space. All to  keep Thanos from getting the infinity stones.     I would like to start by saying I did enjoy the movie but didn't love it. My

Classics Review- Terminator 2

Image
*photo from engadget.com*       Here for week two of the classic series, I have decided to take on the 1991 science fiction epic "Terminator 2: Judgement Day".  Many have called this the greatest sci-fi movie ever, but why? Hopefully by the end of this we can know for sure if it is.       This film picks up ten years after the events of the first film. Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) is stuck in a mental institution because no one believes her about the existence of the terminators. Oh and she happened to be on a one woman crusade to stop judgment day in the present, hence the lock up. While this is going on the ten year old John (Ed Furlong) is living with foster parents, not being the best kid. One day, while at the arcade, two terminators come back including the new T-1000 (Arnold Shwarzenegger and Robert Patrick). You don't know who is there to do what till surprise, the original terminator is the good guy this time. D

Upcoming features 4-27-18

Well the wait is finally over, In less than 24 hours we will know how epic "Infinity War" really is. This is part one of the two part finale that is reportedly suppose to close out the first three phases of the Marvel cinematic universe. Who will survive and who will die?? It is anybodies guess!  Unless, you spoiled it for yourself on reddit.........  At this point I am not sure if I will be doing a spoiler review of it or not, I just know it will be up tomorrow night. I will have two other reviews going up this weekend of "kings" with Daniel Craig and "Hector "El Father Conoceras La Verdad". Come check them out this weekend!

Trailer of the week- Venom

Image
For the return post of trailer of the week,  I needed something perfect for a comeback. Lucky for me that Avengers comes out in a few days, and venom is a marvel movie, so why not put out a new trailer? With Venom Sony is taking a turn into the R rated superhero. In this case Tom Hardy steps into the role of Eddie Brock and tells the story of how he becomes this infamous anti hero. This new trailer does raise a few questions. How much of a villain is Eddie going to be? Honestly seems to me that he will be much more of a hero. The most important question, I believe, we all want to know, how many different ways can you say symbiote?  We will find out October 5!

Westworld Season 2

Image
I am trying something that I would not expect to I will be reviewing a tv show every late Sunday to Monday. If you couldn't guess by the title or the picture i'll be taking a crack at "Westworld" So, why go after such a difficult show to take on? I always like making things difficult. As per usual I will keep this as spoiler free as I can.   The premiere picks up roughly two weeks after the killer party finale. Bernard ( Jeff Wright) wakes up on the beach to be in the company of humans attempting to retake the park. After this there was a time jump to the night of the party and followed Bernard and a group of survivors trying to escape the park.    One thing that interests me about this season is it seems to be following what the character Robert Ford said about the humans but is now the reverse, " People stay here to find out because they want a glimpse of what they could be, the hero or the villain." This is especially prevalent with the ch

*photo from fandango.com*      When it comes to home invasion movies, they for the most part do not work. Sad to say that this one continues this trend.      In this one Paula Patton stars as Brea, a reporter, that is having a rough time at work. At the same time things are going great with her boyfriend John (Omar Epps).  John being the romantic guy that he is, plans a weekend in the mountains with the intent to propose. On the way to the house they stop at a gas station they have a bad run in with bikers, that doesn't just end at the station.      The biggest thing I had as an issue was the combination of the home invasion with human trafficking. It feels like are genres that should and could never cross. It makes it come across as two different movies, like this one did.     This movie also falls prey to the cliches that come with films of the genre.  For example: The man that thinks he can talk his way out of anything.    There

Super Troopers 2

Image
For years, many have wanted to see a sequel to the 2001 classic "Super Troopers", but it could never get off the ground. So what do you do when you cant get a project off the ground? You go to go fund me of course! I can't say this as a  fact. but I heard that there roughly 2000 producers for this film which is amazing! Here we are in 2018, seventeen years after the release of the original, was it worth the wait?     Everyone from Broken Lizard returned to write and star alongside director Jay Chandrasekhar. The story pick up with the guys off doing their different jobs, no longer being cops, because of the "Fred Savage" incident. They get brought to Canada for what they thought was a fishing trip with Captain O'Hagan (Brian Cox). The truth being.... there was a border dispute between Canada and the United States and the boys were brought into to transition the town to Vermont.      So the biggest qu

Classics Review- Tremors

Image
                    * Universal movie poster*      To start this clasics review cycle I was ponedering what I should watch. I kept thinking how old should I go? Then, I came to "Tremors" on HBO. Now would this be a classic film? Yes and no. As a 90s kid this was the first monster type movie I had ever seen. If you could say anything it is at least a cult classic. This 1990 film stared Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward as two handymen in a remote desert town that have had enough of the life they had are ready to leave. They pick the wrong day and people start to dissapear. What caused all these disappearances? One thing I truly love about this film is that it does not take it self too seriously and has fun with what it was. How could you get any better than four giant worms attacking a town of people?     Another thing that I loved about this film was the use of the practical effects used on the worms. When it comes to seeing anything in monster realm these days it is always d

I Feel Pretty

Image
*photo not mine this one comes from vogue.       I do want to start out by saying that I am a bit rusty at reviewing so I hope this goes well. So to not spoil things I can't go into too much of the plot. To keep it basic, Renee (Amy Schumer) is someone who doesn't think highly of themself. When she hit her head during a biking class she hits her head after a bad fall. She then believes that she has become the most beautiful girl in the world.     First of all, the concept is a very important one. Self esteem or  confidence, when it comes  to men or women is important tool for getting through life. This movie is definitely made and marketed for women, but I would like to take a crack at it.    To start, the use of a head injury to give the "beauty" didn't work because, personally, a concussion should not bring the confidence of someone. In other story related issues. Yes, this is a comedy, but I did find most of the jokes did not land. Finally, when the less

My return

Image
For the readers of mine that come around I am coming back full time. What that lmeans, is that I will have all new movies reviewed as fast as possible. I will also return with trailer of the week and summary of the upcoming movies. New thing I will be doing is reviewing one classic movie a week. This week I'm going to start with "I am Pretty" and the cult film "Tremors".
