Bad Samaritan

I do apologize for the delay of my reviews. The mall I view the movies I review at, had a shooting. I did a triple feature tonight, but as you see I am back, and starting with the "Bad Samaritan". So, here we go!
The plot of this film is pretty simple, two valets, Sean (Robert Sheehan) and Derek ( Carlito Sandoval), rob people through their valet job. One night, this man with a very nice car (David Tennant), was not very nice to these guys. Their thought on how to get revenge, is to rob him. Sean gets to his house, using the cars GPS, and finds, shall we say, more than he bargained for. The catch is, Cale (Tennant), caught on to them, and has plans of his own.
One notable thing about this film is director Dean Devlin. For the readers who don't know who that is, he is the director of last years much hated "GeoStorm". So the question is, did he overcome his first film blunders, and make a better movie? I can say yes.
The biggest plus for this film is the performance given by David Tennant. Tennant has made a career of playing good guys, like the tenth doctor on the series "Doctor Who". Recently with turn in "Jessica Jones" and now "Bad Samaritan" he really shows that he has range as an actor.
Do not get me wrong, this is a better film than "GeoStorm", but to me, there are a few issues that still stem from the direction of this film. From the beginning of this film, the choices of songs, were strange. They always seemed to not fit with what tone the movie was trying for. Another thing was things like a transition shot in the beginning, to how it was edited together was a little rough.
In the end, the film was well acted, directional issues end up hurting its potential.
GRADE:C+
