For those of you that don't know,  13 reasons why makes its triumphant return this Friday. But the question on a lot of peoples minds is, how will they return?
For those who have not watched it since it premiered last March, I am going to attempt to recap it for you, in a brief way. The show opens shortly after the death of Hannah Baker. In this opening episode, Clay is given a set of tapes, which he finds out holds the reasons that Hannah was no longer, willing to live. As Clay makes his way through these tapes, he comes across the horrible things that the people of this school have done to her. Some of these things include her friends alienating her, someone,  she likes starting a huge sexual rumor about her, and being raped.
While Clay is learning about all of what had going on he starts to make waves in the school. People do not like this, especially the ones named in the tapes. He starts to get revenge on some of the people from the list. He feels that if he doesn't stand up for Hannah and her memory, no one else will. By the end, he learns that talking is the best weapon of them all.
As the first season comes to a close, the civil trial against the begins, and the existence of the tapes is made known to the courts.
Originally, this series was meant to be limited, once the tapes were revealed it was implied that it was the proper send off. Maybe they never expected to be as big as it ended up getting. So when Netflix decided to renew for a second season producers had to answer the question, but why?  On top of this, it is more of a personal opinion that producers had to listen to the controversy that season one brought. I would not say, completely  conform but mold it in. If you ignore what people said after the first season, you risk loosing the people you had when you started.
What we got from this trailer, is that it is going to be a big courtroom battle, but how long will that last? The first season succeeded, in the way that it was able to tell an amazing personal story. If we loose that, it could be catastrophic. The final thing I wanted to touch on were the photos of the trailer for the upcoming season. One that is held up by Clay says that "the tapes were only the beginning." Personally, that gives the feeling that we will be dealing with some sort of high school "conspiracy".  High school scripts do not mix well with conspiracies. When it comes to those kind of scripts, a conspiracy works when the idea works when the central idea of the story is more broad.               Im not sure about it. Again, I feel like this is something that could take the personal story of the series.  Who knows though, I start the show with the mass. Im just hoping it can stay personal.
