Arrested Development Season 5

So, it has been about 5 years since the release of the last season of the show. For many people season 4 was the weakest of the bunch. So much so that creator Mitch Hurwitz and Netflix completely re-edited the season, which made it better, in my opinion. So, did the five years off help?
The show picks up where the last season left off. The entire season revolves around the fallout of the disappearance, or perhaps, death of Lucille Austero (Liza Minnelli). Michael and George- Michael ( Jason Bateman and Michael Cera) are still dealing with the fallout of George - Michael punching his father in the face. GOB is on a mission to find himself, of sorts, after spending the night with Tony Wonder (Ben Stiller). He is now struggling with whether or not he is gay. Meanwhile, Lindsay (Portia de Rossi), has her sights on becoming "part of the problem", and running for government office. Tobias (David Cross), on the other hand is being divorced by Lindsay, but doing anything he can to stay in the family. Buster (Tony Hale) has gone into hiding over what has happened to Lucille Austero. Maeby(Alia Shawkat) is trying to adjust to her life as a "senior citizen", in her new condo. This condo happens to be apart of a senior living community. Finally, Lucille (Jessica Walter) and George (Jeff Tambor) are facing a divorce of their own.
Something that worked for this season was it seemed like much more connected than the past season. Personally, it felt like the story actually flowed well. With season four, everyone had busy schedule, and Netflix decided to give everyone their own episode. There was very limited time together, with flashbacks to fill the space. Most thought that this did not work. I also believe that this season is decently funny, but I found many jokes falling flat for me personally.
In terms of technical issues, I had with the the series was there was a large amount of green screen in it. There was a lot of times where it took me out of the scene.
In the end, this is a step up from season four, but if you compare it to the first two seasons, its not quite there.
GRADE:C+
