13 reasons why- Romancing Suicide

With season 2 of "13 reasons why" gearing up for release this Friday, and my utmost desire to expand the blog, I thought why not take on this new season. My first crack at this is gunna be more of a psychological look at this show. One thing that this show has been accused of from the beginning is saying suicide is the best option. For those who have not seen the show, it centers around a recently deceased girl, Hannah Baker, who had killed her self and left a set of tapes, detailing the reasons as to why she did it.
First, in terms of when it comes to times when bullying can hit the hardest, it is in high school. This is where, if your not careful, will beat you until you can not come back. When it comes to this story, the bad things begin with rumors and general egos getting in the way. Things just escalate from there.
With the end being suicide, for Hannah, the question is does it inspire people to follow that path? Unfortunately, the answer to that is not that simple. People, will and have looked at this series, and see beauty in what her death was. So in a way, I do see, what is romantic about it. I have struggled with these issues my entire life. People in this situation feel like there is no other way. Some people, I would agree, should not watch it. I'm here to argue, there is more.
The aftermath of Hannah Baker's brings a lot of pain and questions. This goes from the parents, to friends to less than that. Things like "attention seeker" and "lier" come up, not just for her but many. The question of what could of been done? Was there signs? Was I who this person needed to be?
Yes this is dramatized show, but what this show does is make you think and talk about after you watch it. If you are talking after you watch it, this show has done its job.
Suicide is a rough subject to cover, but it needs to be discussed. A show like this is important because it brings the discussion. Talking is what starts the heal.
In the end, it really depends on the person, when it comes to romancing suicide. No two people are the same when it comes to depression. That is unfortunately done a lot in society, generalizing how people feel, nothing is black and white. Start a conversation, you don't know who's life you could save.
PS: Stupid, I know, writing this like I am writing a letter. Point being, as I said, I have struggled with this, more than I let on. I want to put it out there that if you are struggling know you have an ear.
