Adrift

   So how would it feel to be stranded in the ocean for 41 days?
   "Adrift" tells the story of how Tami Oldham (Shailene Woodley) and Richard Sharp (Sam Claflin) meet in Tahiti and fall in love. These two happen to be avid sailors, in this story. Tami and Richard are employed to take a big yacht from Tahiti to  San Diego. During this 4000 mile journey they hit a massive hurricane that changes everything.
    The big positive that comes out of this movie is the performance of Shailene Woodley. This movie was going to sink or swim based on the strength that she brought. People needed to be convinced of Tami's strength and she killed it.
Another thing that needs to be great when it comes to films like this is great cinematography. This film does a great job of showing how small the boat is in such a big ocean.
  There were a few things that this film struggled with. When the tidal wave comes that gets the couple lost at sea, you see Tami get thrown around the cabin down below. You are able to tell that a computer does a lot of the work to throw her around. My big thing when it comes to this film is how long it takes to get to the point that the story is trying to make.
   In the end, Shailene Woodley  keeps this movie watchable.

    Click update movie at yidio - Great movie that never lost my attention. Between the surprising twists (that I won't mention because they would be spoilers) and the intense action all through the movie I was glued to the screen. Shailene Woodley's great acting carried the movie like, in a smaller way, how Tom Hanks captivated in Cast Away. Definitely worth seeing. I would suggest see it without knowing much about the story.

    I would be the first to admit, when the original "Unfriended" dropped in 2014, I was not expecting to enjoy it. I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw. I always thought though, there is no need to make a sequel. Alas.. we fast forward to 2018, and there is a sequel.     The story revolves around Matias, who finds a great laptop, in his local internet cafe's lost and found. Since it has been there for weeks, he takes it. Later that night, while playing a game night over Skype, he begins to discover some terrible things.    One of the problems that plagued both of the films was the acting. In most of these cases, the actors from these films, do not have a lot of experience. It unfortunately, caries over to this film. When the story got to the climax, the line delivery got a little rough.    What really worked for the first one, was essentially, everyone was a terrible person.      When it comes to cop films, for the most part, I tend to be a huge fan. When this came out, I was not very sure what to expect from it because there was such little press for it.     A professional group of thieves lead by Michael Atwood (Chiwetel Ejiofor) does the biding of Irina Vlaslov ( Kate Winslet). The guys want out of her buiding, but her being a big player in the Russian mafia, she gets what she wants. She drags the crew into a final heist with a huge payoff, what could possibly go wrong?        The biggest thing that hurt this film was the scope was so huge for this film with how many characters it has. It is hard to care or, for that matter get to know any Of the characters when the time spent with them is so short. On top of that, this film does not go in any new directions for the crime thrillers. I feel like if they may have added twenty to thirty minutes to get to know all the characters it may have added an edge it doesn't quite have. GRADE:C
