Halloween (2018)

I have to admit with the countless "Halloween" sequels out there and their "quality", I was not expecting much.
The story picks up forty years later with laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), nearly cut off from the outside world. She is estranged from her daughter (Judy Greer). Michael had been imprisoned since his killing spree in the original film. What happens when Michael escapes during a prison transfer? I think you know.
I do think it was a smart decision making this film a direct sequel to the original. That way you can cut out the fat that is the sequels. I have to admit, I was a bit concerned when I heard Danny McBride and David Gordon Green were taking on this project. They are known for their comedy work, in case you don't know. What we got from the story was a combination of horror and comedy, that for the most part works. Something I really liked, it does play subtle with some of its slashing. Not trying to go all out to show your blood and gore works wonders.
I think what leads this movie, in terms of quality is the performance by Curtis. This is probably the best I have ever seen her.
One side note I was impressed with was the use of Nick Castle, as Michael Myers. He was the original Myers in the 1978 version. It was pretty cool to see an older version of the shape.
There is a certain story aspect that, of course I will not give away just really did not sit well with me. It comes at the beginning of the third act. All I will say is you'll know it when you see it.
In the end this movie was a lot of fun, maybe the most I have had in the series.
