When it comes to home invasion movies, they for the most part do not work. Sad to say that this one continues this trend.
In this one Paula Patton stars as Brea, a reporter, that is having a rough time at work. At the same time things are going great with her boyfriend John (Omar Epps). John being the romantic guy that he is, plans a weekend in the mountains with the intent to propose. On the way to the house they stop at a gas station they have a bad run in with bikers, that doesn't just end at the station.
The biggest thing I had as an issue was the combination of the home invasion with human trafficking. It feels like are genres that should and could never cross. It makes it come across as two different movies, like this one did.
This movie also falls prey to the cliches that come with films of the genre. For example: The man that thinks he can talk his way out of anything.
There was one thing that I did find ok with this film. Personally, I felt that the performance by lead Paula Patton is her best she has done in a while.
In the end, a genre mix add a whole bunch of cliches leaves the movie dead on arrival.
