Super Troopers 2
For years, many have wanted to see a sequel to the 2001 classic "Super Troopers", but it could never get off the ground. So what do you do when you cant get a project off the ground? You go to go fund me of course! I can't say this as a fact. but I heard that there roughly 2000 producers for this film which is amazing! Here we are in 2018, seventeen years after the release of the original, was it worth the wait?
Everyone from Broken Lizard returned to write and star alongside director Jay Chandrasekhar. The story pick up with the guys off doing their different jobs, no longer being cops, because of the "Fred Savage" incident. They get brought to Canada for what they thought was a fishing trip with Captain O'Hagan (Brian Cox). The truth being.... there was a border dispute between Canada and the United States and the boys were brought into to transition the town to Vermont.
So the biggest question when it comes to any comedy is do your jokes land, and how well? When it came to this film it was hit and miss. Most of the jokes were either about being Canadian or American, after a while it got old. When it veered to the gross out humor none of it really landed.
My other biggest problem with the film was there was more than a few plot threads that were left unresolved when they have no reason to be left undone. I wont spoil anything for people that are looking to watch this film. All I will say is that with "fun movies" such as this one, unfinished storylines are not good.
In the end, I would not say this is a terrible movie. If you are a fan of the original you should very much enjoy watching it.
