Until Dawn

We are back again with reviews for the weekend movies. This weekend I am hoping to get more out  than just one, but well see.

In August 2015 Until Dawn was released onto the PS4 and went on to sell 50 million copies as well as being a critical success. There was always the question on whether or not it would get a sequel or a movie. Fast forward 10 years later, we are getting a movie.

This is a return to the horror genre for director David F Sandberg, his last two being the "Shazam" movies. His horror career includes "Lights Out" and "Anabelle: Creation" . Two very good horror entries, brought me to the theater,

The film revolves around a group of friends getting stuck in a time loop. While in the loop, they are repeatedly murdered in gruesome ways.

With the recent release of "The last of Us" season 2, and all the hate it is getting for being different, I would like to try to be impartial to this movie, so bare with me please. The game is choice based, not exactly something that can be translated onto film. I would say that changing it to a time loop was the only way around it.

With this being a slasher film, it can only be as good as the kills. There are a wide variety, that range from eh to really cool. There is a particular scene about halfway through, that is one of the coolest I have scene in a movie, in a long time.

The biggest drawback to the film was the story. There is the beginning of a good idea several times over, but it felt like the goal was the punchline.

I was privileged to a term that I quite enjoy, when describing film. "Fun C" refers to a film that you know has flaws but can enjoy it anyway.
