  As a fan of history this was easily at the top of my list. I also got a chance to see this a little early, so I am excited to talk about it! The film starts at the beginning of the infamous trial. The US army brings in Douglas Kelly (Rami Malek) to  look into the Nazi high command. The film chooses to focus on the showdown with Hermann Göring.   The film was written and directed by James Vanderbilt. His films take a giant swing through the genres. He goes from things like "Scream" to "Zodiac". Personally, in terms of historical dramas, if you can pull off Zodiac, you will get my eyes and ears.    Russel Crowe has been in American movies since the early 1990's. He has had many iconic and memorable performances.He won an Oscar for Gladiator. I will say this is his best performance since "Cinderella Man".     Happy Halloween to you all! Today we have been privileged with the second episode.  With the deaths of the children at the end of the premiere, where do you go? Obviously, the town wants answers. With Lilly being the only real witness all eyes are on her. The town thinks its the owner of the theater, Hank . How do they get there man? Squeeze the witness. While all of is going on, we get introduced to the the rest of the Hanlon family . Leroy came into series on the previous episode as our eyes into the Derry military base . The unit of Leroy, Charlotte , and Will .  I was unsure how this would go after the first episode. I was not sure i could get past what seemed like another Losers Club ... than they all die.  There is another ending that changes everything that you think about when it comes to it. I won't spoil but very interesting. It will get me to come back 

  Being 36 years old I never had the pleasure of seeing this film in the theater. That all changed tonight.  I think that the point of this post will be to appreciate this movie.  Michael J fox was becoming more, and more of a household name thanks to Family Ties. This got him the movie "Teen Wolf". Down the street from  "Teen Wolf" they were shooting the film "Back to Future". Eric Stoltz was originally cast as Marty, but they felt like he was not hitting the comedic bits. After five weeks of filming, he was fired. Who do they get to replace him? The thought was Michael J Fox. The problem was NBC was unwilling to share. There was a lot of back and forth, until it was agreed upon that he would shoot Family Ties during the day and back to the future all night. There is much to love about this movie. The long awaited return of Sydney Prescott is around the corner! Today we got a trailer gor the highly anticipated SCREAM 7.  Where will it go is anyone's guess. The film drops February 27th! Who's ready?

     Here is your warning this will spoil the end of episode 1. The end of the episode has the gangback at the theater looking for answers to their friend's dissaperance. They believe there are clues to it in the film "Music Man".  Lone behold, Matty, the missing kid was there. Or what they thought was. The bat from the beginning comes out of the screen. Susie,Terry and Phil are killed.    This is a huge example of "the rug pull". I will argue something like this was needed for this episode. From the begging it felt like this was going to be more of the same with a different "Losers Club", not the case. With their deaths, it shows where this show is willing to go. This is why my grade for the show was what it was.

      Time to dust of the old critic hat. A flash back to 2017 here for a few. I had not read the book or seen the miniseries. Needless to say, what we got was top quality horror. 2019 came around, the adult version came out, it wasn't as good. When it was all done Warner Brothers ended up with 1.023 billion. for those that do not know, that is a hell of a lot for two horror films. So.... how do you maximize your profits?     There is a lot that goes on in this first episode, so well see how this goes. in typical "It" fashion we do start out with the disappearance of a kid.  When Lilly hears him in the drains one night, her and a group of schoolmates decide it is time to find out what happened.     Like the movie, the characters  are mostly kids. A little late in the week, but here we go. Weapons tells the story of a town that loses 17 children at the same time, 2:17 am. Where did they go? Who took them? The film is written and directed by Zach Cregger, the man behind "Barbarian".  "Weapons" hits theaters August 8.

      From the director of the "Raid " movies? Yes please. Way back in 2011, little did I know I was going to get one of my favorite action movies. One man going through an entire building beating up bad guys. Why you ask? Does it mater!   Since that time we have gotten 2014's Raid 2 and 2018's the apostle. Both movies I really liked, no reason I would not like this film.  The film picks up after  a drug deal gone wrong.  Detective Walker ( Tom Hardy), must fight his way through the underworld to rescue a politician's son back.   To get a person interested in your action film you have to focus on two things: how it’s presented and is the story interesting. This film starts with a lot of excess baggage that does not give the film a needed boost to get going. Sometimes in an action movie we can forgive a bad story, if we have a lot of fun getting to where we are going. Over half the movie is fluff with unmemorable dialogue and characters. ...

       We are back again with reviews for the weekend movies. This weekend I am hoping to get more out  than just one, but well see.       In August 2015 Until Dawn was released onto the PS4 and went on to sell 50 million copies as well as being a critical success. There was always the question on whether or not it would get a sequel or a movie. Fast forward 10 years later, we are getting a movie. This is a return to the horror genre for director David F Sandberg, his last two being the "Shazam" movies. His horror career includes "Lights Out" and "Anabelle: Creation" . Two very good horror entries, brought me to the theater,   The film revolves around a group of friends getting stuck in a time loop.   We have seen many legacy sequels in recent years , a lot being horror. This year brings a new secret from last summer. This week we got the first trailer for the new "I know what you did Last Summer". There is a new deadly secret that five friends share. Hopefully Julie Jones (Jenifer Love Hewitt) and Ray Bronson (Freddie Prince Jr) can save the day! "I know what you did Last Summer" drops in theaters July 18th.

      Happy Easter to all !!! As I have done in the past, every holiday I like to take a look at a favorite of the current holidays films. This time around, the 1979 comedy "Life of Brian".      Monty Python started out as a sketch show in 1969 that ran for four seasons. The success of this show go them their first feature, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." It was a critical and financial hit. It was produced for 175 thousand pounds and made 7.7 million world wide. A follow up was all but guaranteed. In 1979 we got,  "The Life of Brian."   The story revolves around   Brian, who happened to born one stable down and on  same night as Jesus.  Brian becomes intrigued by a young rebel, Judith. To try to impress her, Brian joins the  movement against the Roman Empire. While running from the Romans, he recites some o f the teachings he heard from Jesus. This ends up getting the  crowd to believe he is the Messiah....

  When the trailer for "Sinners" came out, I was immediately sold on vampires, Michael B. Jordan, and Ryan Coogler. As the release date came closer, the buzz got better and better. It made me very interested in seeing what this could be. Through Coogler's career his film's have stayed rather high on the tomatometer. "Sinners" is his highest rated at 97 while his lowest is "Wakanda Forever" at 84 percent. Hopefully I can give some insight.   Smoke and Stack (Michael B Jordan) come back to Mississippi to t ry to leave their gangster lives behind. On the opening night of their club, an unimaginable evil is waiting to welcome them back.  The themes of the film really stand out likely because of the way they are presented. The story is set in the 1930's in the deep south. Racism at this time is rampant and so is the struggle people have. All people want to do is make it anyway they can. The twins want to make it in their new lives, while also trying...

The return week continues. I was thinking yesterday that I wanted to do a trailer of some sort this week and did not know what to use. Today brought this interesting gem.   Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Coleman star as Theo and Ivy Rose. Everyone thinks they have the perfect marriage, until Theo's professional aspirations come crashing down. The resentment ensues.....   This is a remake of the 1989 Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner's "War of the Roses". I always found that film to be a little more mean spirited than anything else. I am hoping that this film can tow the line a little better. The Roses is in theaters August 29th.

          Just to start off quickly, it has been two years since I have done one of these. They have always brought me joy doing them, so I thought why not give it another try.    Alex Garland started out in 2000 with "28 days later " and has gone 25 years. In that time, he has ventured into video games and directing. He has had a lot of films that I have loved through the years (Ex machina, Sunshine, and Dredd).   The film revolves around a platoon of SEALs that embarked on a dangerous mission in Ramadi, Iraq.  This film is all about the experience, it wants you to be there with these soldiers and make you feel what it's like to be on the front line. The editing is fast to try and cause discomfort. The cinematography has a lot of medium and close ups to show the emotion and destruction of it all.
